Show Us Thy Glory
Hosea 6:3 - Then Shall We Know If We Follow On to Know the Lord. In other words, we will only get to know the Lord if we become acquainted with Him. We must be zealous in our wanting to know Him. We have to follow after Him. When I was a senior at Bethune Jr & Sr High, I was impressed by the sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha. I did not know what it took to wear the pink and green, but I was impressed with what I saw. So, I did my research. I learned as much as I could about the sorority. An opportunity came that allowed me to display my talents at a banquet that was held for promising sorority girls that were yet in high school. I wanted to impress them so badly that I was more nervous than a cat on a hot tin roof. I began my presentation and I forgot everything, but my name. I stopped, begged their pardon and started over. I gathered my composure and made my presentation. They were impressed. Consequently, I pledged and became one of those AKA's. I followed after that dream with EXPECTATION.
By definition 'Follow" is to go after, to chase, to pursue. You can never exhaust God or His Word I am constantly chasing after His truths. I am in hot pursuit of knowing Him. Like the hunter when he gets the prize there is a feeling of both exhilaration and sadness because the hunt is over. NOT SO WITH GOD. The more I know about God the more I want to know God. Once you peal back the pages of truth in the Word of God there lies another page to explore; another revelation to receive and another impartation of a Holy and Righteous God. I followed God to learn who he is and what He can be in my life. I learned that He really is bread in a starving land and that He really is water in dry places. I followed (sought after, pursued, chased) after God and found out that He is just what He says He is, He is no shorter than His Word and that there is nothing too hard for God!
In my search I wanted to see God in all of His splendor and in all of His Glory. God, make your self known unto me. I had heard about Him, but never felt that manna that comes from above. God, show me YOU!
When we were young children playing in the streets we would hear music. It was the Ice Cream Truck. We didn't see it, but we could hear it. So we knew it was in the neighborhood. We would ask our mothers for little money because the Ice Cream Man was coming. She would ask, well where is he? I don't know but I know he's coming. We would take the money she gave us and go back onto the street. We would dance in the street until he came to where we were. Oh, the Ice Cream Man is coming. There was a list on the side of his truck that showed everything that was in the truck. If you were too small to read there were pictures of everything that was in the truck. We would exchange our money for something that was in the truck. Everything that you need is in the Word of God. If you cannot read it, He will show you by example what GOOD THINGS He has in store for you. If you look for Him, you will find Him.
