IT AIN'T OVER UNTIL I WIN!
II Chronicles 32:1, 7-8, 14, 20-22
Remember when you were children and you made a pact with your friends; your best friends. You promised that you would always be there for each other. Kids from the other neighborhood would challenge you to a fight and even though you were truly afraid you went in knowing that your buddies had your back. Many 3 o'clock appointments were made. "I'll see you after school." And if it was too heated (you might have said something about their mama) someone said, "I'll see you at recess." So you made sure that your friends were aware of what was to take place. They had to know the time, the place and who was doing the fighting.
There were always those doubters who tried to convince you that it was more of them and that you didn't stand a chance. The opponent was bigger than you and your buddies. So, you lost confidence. You gave up. The enemy looked bigger and more powerful than you. You wanted to call it off, but you couldn't because it was not your call. What can you do? Now you can't see the friends that were going to be there for you. They forgot to come to the fight.
What do you do when your friends forget to come to the fight? What do you do: when the money is low and pay day is a week away? What do you do when the meal barrel is just about empty and there are no food stamps? What do you do when the spouse ignores you and the marriage is in deep trouble? What do you do when the child is failing in school and the teacher doesn't care? What do you do when your family just doesn't understand? What do you do when the enemy has come to the fight and you feel like you have come all alone?
After all that Hezekiah had so faithfully done, Senacherib, king of Asyria came and invaded Judah. He laid siege to the fortified cities, thinking to conquer them for himself. He THOUGHT to win Israel for himself. Sin, evil, wickedness begins as a thought. When Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib had come and that he intended to make war on Jerusalem, he consulted with his officials and military staff. He decided to cut off all of the streams that flowed through the land. Why should the King of Assyria come and find plenty of water? Then he worked hard repairing all of the broken sections of the wall and built towers on them. He even added an extra wall of protection, a second wall, around the city of David. He made large numbers of weapons and shields. Hezekiah prepared for the fight.
Saints we must prepare for the fight. It is a National alert. CODE RED! The enemy "ain't" playing with you. He wants to take you out. He wants to destroy you. But you have a weapon. You have the artillery at your finger tips. You got a hand grenade, a M16 and a M50 machine gun all wrapped up in one. Its call the Word of God!
